Homework for Mon, Oct 29, 2012

The table read at Fox in LA for the Simpson’s was quite an experience. More on Monday.

Your homework for the weekend…

We are moving on now to a whole bunch of other types of voiceover work. Corporate narration, documentary narration, marketing pieces, training, informational work, voice mail, in-store announcements and more.

From Chapter 16 – select one piece to record and have ready for playback in class. As usual – read all of the exercises aloud before deciding which to select for playback in class. As I mentioned in class on Wednesday – you MUST be able to identify what you do well or you will not do well on auditions.

Please refer to the all of the instructions as printed on Page 31 of your Workbook for this assignment EXCEPT for the following. Do not do the Company Voice Mail – we’ll work on that in class. AND for the Happy Home Realty – please only polish one of the sections. In reality, you would NOT be hired to do both a Testimonial and the Announcer, unless the budget was very low and you were very adept at both kinds of delivery and could fool the listener into believing that they were two different people.

If you select the Talking Product script, please do an ABC read for each line.

There are two parts to the Written homework.

  1. Develop just the two Who’s this time – you need to know your relationship with the audience. Are you a peer? How does the audience feel about the subject matter you are presenting? Are you introducing a new concept to experts or explaining something new to the uninitiated.
  2. A short self-evaluation of what you recorded and why. Answer these questions
    1. Why did you select this particular script? This gets back to your need to be able to evaluate where you might fit in this business.
    2. Of the possible scripts – which did you like the least and why
