Homework for Wed., Nov. 14, 2012

Yes, you have Monday off. Don’t come to class, unless you like sitting in the pit.

So, for Wednesday, please have all three of the rest of the Listening Exercise Grids completed and be ready to talk about them.

  • Documentaries
  • Marketing/Training/Communication – Non-Broadcast/Internet
  • Voicemail/IVR System Prompts

Additional Recording and Written Assignment for Wednesday…

Audio Book Exercise

Audio books are a horse of a completely different color. You must truly love the experience. Most of us think we can do audio books much in the same way people think they can do cartoon voices. But until you actually read for an extended period of time and experience it for yourself, you can’t really know.

Pick a book you think your voice is suited for. It can be fiction or non-fiction. Do not pick a children’s book for this exercise. Just remember not to attempt to do things far outside of your abilities, or you really will hate the process.

Refer to Pages 32 and 33 of your Workbook for the specifics of the assignment. Please bring in the book to class, as well as the recording and the written assignment. We will probably not listen to the recordings, but I will probably ask you to read aloud from your selected book.

For those of you who were not in class on Wednesday to listen to the selection of audio books I played in class, please go to Audible.com and listen to some of the samples of the audio books they are selling.
