We’re not really sure! What we do know is that nearly a dozen classes for the Fall were cut prior to registration opening up. Class size is being set at 18 with no consideration for the capacity or logic behind a smaller class.
Additionally, despite the Building C remodel, the studio is still not finished and the latest input is that it will not be ready until this Fall, if that. The future of the department appears to be in jeopardy.
If you are planning to take more RTVF classes or if you are a graduate of the department and want to make your voice heard, then consider attending the Board of Trustees meeting this week on Thursday the 14th of April at 4 p.m.
Yes, this is last minute, but requested meetings with the President of City College have been denied.
If there is standing room only it will send a strong message of support. No one is asking anyone to hold picket signs or march (yet!) but we need to make a plea about the minimum 18 number and cutting classes prior to them starting.
The board meets in Mission Valley at the district office.
