Part 5 – Pronunciation (Different from Articulation)

So, you can articulate clearly. That is certainly positive. But beyond articulation comes pronunciation.

Voice talent needs to know a little bit about a lot of stuff. And they need a great vocabulary! Mispronouncing words can really distract an audience from your message.

If you are not sure how something is pronounced because you have never heard it spoken, or never looked it up in the dictionary, don’t try to bluff your way through it. If you are English as a second language, this is much more of an issue.

But even native American English speakers pronounce words incorrectly. For example. The word larynx is pronounced [lair-ingks] – not [lar-nix].
